The yajaman for the flag (dhwaja) hosting ceremony on Saturday 17 December was the family of Shri Amratlal Laxmanbhai Vaya of Jam Khambhalia. The family also sponsored the lunch / prashad on this auspicious occasion.
The family performed pooja ceremony of the Dhwaja (flag) at the Soni Dwarka Wadi. Prayers were offered to dhwajaji with the help of the learned priest.
Relatives, friends and hundreds of Soni guests then ceremonially carried dhwaja on their heads and moved towards Dwarkadheesh temple in a procession, chanting songs and slogans in praise of the Lord Krishna - Gopal Krishna Radhe Krishna, Nand Gher Anand Bhiyo Jai Kanaya Lal Ki etc. The atmosphere created when a procession of Parajiya Pattnis Sonis from all over the world walking and dancing towards the Bhagwan Shree Krishna mandir was a simply electric.
Dhwaja was placed at pious feet of Dwarikadheesh with offerings and then was handed over for hoisting. Hundreds of Pattni members gathered on the Mandir ground to witness the hoisting. The way two persons climb up the flag pole of the temple and bring down the old flag and put up the new one is a sight to be witnessed to be believed.

As an accomplishment of the whole process, the men who had climbed to hoist the flag threw a coconut from top of the peak to mark the Dhwaja aarohan. The pieces of the broken coconut were then distributed as the Lord's prashad.
With all its grandeur Dwarka is standing as an epitome of Hindu Dharma, attracting pilgrims from across the globe. As per the temple sources more than five million devotes visited Dwarka last year.
